Do you want to live in The Real America?

As one of the most listened to nationally syndicated radio talk-show hosts and the driving force behind the Rallies for America, Glenn Beck entertains, inspires, and informs millions of listeners. In The Real America, Beck continues telling it like it really is, cutting through the fog of modern-day pundits and pontificators who have made it their mission to undermine and underestimate the greatness of America, our strength as Americans, and the power of the American spirit.

With his inimitable combination of self-effacing humor and heartfelt conviction, Glenn rails against many of the forces that keep us from our potential as a nation and as individuals -- and tells how to overcome them. His topics include:

• Family and community
• Politics
• Personal responsibility
• Religion
• Political correctness, the media, Hollywood, and celebrities
• Alcohol and drugs
• Why I wave the flag

Glenn Beck's compelling message in The Real America echoes the ideas he has delivered to thousands of people with his groundbreaking Rallies for America: Once we connect with our power individually, we can empower others -- and then we can be as great and as grand as we have always wanted to be as a person, as a people, and as a nation.

What Customers Say About The Real America: Messages from the Heart and Heartland:

I agree with him on several points such as `political correctness' and education, but I have to say his views of Bill Clinton are one sided against him. The other issue is the divisions of Islam. 1% cheerfully is much more than 50% begrudgingly. This is the first political commentary talking head book I have read. Also, you do not give more to the church in order to receive more, you give out of appreciation for the gifts God gave you and not with the expectation that you will receive even more in return. Muslims will always want a strong centralized government that tells the people what to do; it is inherent in their religion.

He is dead on about Hilary. First, there is no 10% rule, you should give graciously not begrudgingly. He is also incorrect on tithing. I could look past this, but his views on the Middle East are way off. I support the ousting of Hussein because he was `evil', but attempting to force democracy down their throats is why we are a quagmire and can not get out.

I started it with an open mind, not knowing who Beck was or where he stood. Shi'a, Wahabi, Sunni none of them get along and all vying for dominance is the lands of Islam. WAKE UP CALL, Muslims no more want democracy than Henry VIII. Sure Clinton was wrong for what he did with Lewinsky, but Beck totally negates the positive aspects of his presidency. Beck contends that peace will come when we root out terrorism and instill democracy.

Like his shows, some chapters are serious and some are just for laughs.I'd love if he would go into more detail about his background. He includes lots of interesting details about his life as well. If you'd like a nice bio (the only I know of), look at Xander Cricket's Glenn Beck: The Redemptive Story of America's Favorite Political Commentator.Definitely a 5-star read, and just as relevant today as when it came out. I'm a longtime fan of Glenn's radio and TV shows, and found this book just as entertaining as his other performances. The writing is excellent - he holds your attention the whole way through.

You really hear Glenn in your head saying every word. You hear him on the radio or see him on TV, but the book really offers an opportunity to hear his thoughts and how he got to where he is now. It was an easy read because it's written in such a great conversational style.

The booi, "The Real America: Messages from the Heartland" by Glenn Beck is inspiring reading for those who embrace the values put forth by America's founding fathers.

Glen reaches back ,in not too distant history ,and reminds us of what Martin Niemoller (1892-1994) had to say about things that happened in Europe during the rise of Hitler and The National Socialist Party; "In Germany they came first for the Communists and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist. Then they came for the Jews and I didn't speak up becaude I wasn't a Jew.Then they came came for the trade unionists and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist. Then they came for the Catholics and I didn't speak up because I was a Protestant. Then they came for me--and by that time there was no one left to speak up." Glen Beck certainly doesn't like or agree with many of the things that are going on in his America;and that is why he is speaking up. Beck warns you, that unless you agree with these goals, then the time has come for those who love America to take it back from those who want to see it destroyed. In Chapter 6,The Enemy Within, quotes something that should give any thinking person cause to worry. It is "The Communist Goals of 1963" which was recorded in the Congressional Record".It is a list of 45 Goals drafted up to help destrot America. It was the understanding of the Communist Party, at the height of the Cold War, that the way to defeat America was to have them defeat themselves. As you read through this you will see that many of these goals have already been accomplished and many others are fundamental beliefs ,not necessarily by the Communists ,but liberals, the Left, special interest groups, the ACLU,the mass media, the academic establishment, etc.

If you think America has been the greatet country the world has ever seen;but are concerned with the forces that are changing it,maybe you should take the time to read this book.In many "current affairs" books today, authors write from a viewpoint of preconceived agendae ;and I guess you can even conclude that Glen does too. He believes in Free Enterprise and that the Government should be the servant of the People as opposed to Socialism and its the role of the government to look after the peopler, which is a misguided promise that has never, nor will it ever do;and history has confirmed it every place it has been tried. Glen Beck does not sugar coat what he thinks is going on in America today.

Beck is convinced that there is a great force at work in America that is behind the changes that are taking place. "Democracy and Socialism have nothing in common but one word:equality. But notice the difference:while democracy seeks equality in liberty, socialism seeks equality in restraint and servitude." Alexis de Tocqueville (1805-1859) However;the important thing for one is to figure out what that agenda is and whether you agree with it or not.

Beck does not outright state his agenda, but it is easy to see that he loves America without reservation,he believes America,as did Ronald Reagan that America is the "Shining City on the Hill",he believes wholeheartily in America's founding principles of Life,Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. He also believes these are principles more akin to Conservativeism as opposed to Liberalism.
